"Lagrima Azul" (Blue Tear) (Instrumental)
"One of the best songs of the record in terms of sound and feeling. It is a live recording, (in the sense that we were all playing together
in the studio, except for the keyboard, which was added later), and is the first and only take. My original idea was to record the guitar only as a reference,
to overdub it again later, playing over the drum-bass-keyboard take, but it ended up sounding great, so I decided to leave it the way it was. I did some little
"punch-ins" here and there, but is pretty much the first thing I played, along with Germain and Alejandro. I can hear some Hendrix, Vaughan, Vai influences within
the song; when my left hand started to deteriorate, I stopped playing this one live, because it has some very demanding passages.
"Maldición Gitana" (Gypsy Curse) (Edit Version)
"More in the classical vein, but not so much as it sounds at first listening, actually the song has more of a flamenco feel to it, the chord
progressions, the accents, the vocal melody line (a very difficult one to sing), and some chord voicings, are inspired in that music. The guitar solo gives the song
it's classical touch."
"Enciende La Hoguera" (Light The Blaze) (Edit Version) Partitura
"One of the bonus tracks from Twister, and possibily the most neo-classical "Malmsteen-like" song of the record. The guitar solo has a very
classical sounding passage, and once again a very demanding vocal melody line."
"Devil´s Strings" (Instrumental) (Edit Version) Partitura
"Another of the bonus tracks of the record, this one I recorded at home on a digital portastudio back in 1997. All of the orchestral parts
(string ensembles and other sounds), I played them with a guitar plugged via midi to a Roland GR30 guitar synth. Originally it was a technicall study, but it
started developing more and more, and I begun to add variations, arrangements and string ensembles, and finally I decided to record it."
Electrovivace / Twister
"My personal tribute to one of the greatest guitarrists of all times, and in my opinion the most original of them all: Eddie Van Halen.
"Electro Vivace" is an explosive guitar solo in the "Eruption" style, but not of the taping part which is the most well known, but more of the first part,
that for me is the most musically interesting, full of, sort of atonal passages, without beeing based on an specific scale, and with various left hand fingerings
that require a huge reach. "Twister" is inspired on Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's "From Dusk 'Till Dawn" film. The solo on this one, is recorded with
the guitar plugged straight to the Marshalls MKII, with all the controls and volumes on 10 !!!!, is and extremelly raw and wild sound, and a very difficult one
to control; I still remember the studio's floors and walls rumbling."
